I travel through the beautiful state of North Carolina all of the time. I go there for the peace and beauty the mountains provide. I frequently see the names of Highway Patrol officers on bridges and overpasses. These are not just names but real people with tough jobs who sometimes do not come home. I hope the family of Trooper Demuth find peace. I pray the Highway Patrol never has to put another name on the wall.

TO THE FAMILY, FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES OF TROOPER BOBBY G. DEMUTH.
My heart is filled with great sadness at the lost of your loved one and fellow Trooper.
We in the law enforcement community are a family.
Whether you pin a Badge, a Shield or a Star upon your chest.
Whether you work in a small town or large city.
Whether you work in Detention Facilities or out on Patrol.
Whether active duty or retired, we are family, a law enforcement family, a brotherhood, a band of brothers having walked the line of good over evil knowing that at any moment in the course of performing our duties the ultimate sacrifice might be required of us in the service to our community.
For Law Enforcement is not a job but a calling and only a few will make the decision to commit to that calling to serve for some will give all that they have.
I commend you my fallen brother for making the ultimate sacrifice in the performance of your duty.
For you left us doing what you chose to do.
Performing a job you were trained to do.
Upholding the oath you swore to do.
Most importantly doing what you loved to do.........Serving and Protecting your community making a better and safer place for us all.
