To all the family, friends and colleagues of Trooper Demuth, may you know that there are many in the community that grieve with you and are praying for your comfort and strength during this time of great sadness. It is tragic that our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever. Just as you were always with him when he patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be. He will always be admired and remembered for his courage and bravery.

I am sending prayers to the family, friends and community of Gene. I am so sorry for your loss. My heart is heavy and I grieve along with you. Gene was one of my high school classmates, Tarboro High School 1988. Gene always had this infectious smile and always had a good heart. I even had a chance to work with him some when I was a deputy clerk for Edgecombe County and he was with the Sheriff's Dept. He was still the same from high school. R.I.P. my fellow classmate!

It is such a sad, sad time in the law enforcement community to lose such a young, vibrant, dedicated officer, father, husband, son, and friend in a senseless act such as this. Bobby Gene always was willing to go the extra mile and do the job right. It was my Privilige to work with you and my Honor to call you my friend, my Brother.
