TO THE FAMILY, FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES OF TROOPER ERIC M. WORKMAN.
My heart is filled with great sadness at the lost of your loved one and fellow Trooper.
We in the law enforcement community are a family.
Whether you pin a Badge, a Shield, or a Star upon your chest.
Whether you work in a small town or big city.
Whether you work in Detention Facilities or out on Patrol.
Whether active duty or retired, we are family, a law enforcement family, a brotherhood, a band of brothers having walked the line of good over evil knowing that at any moment in the course of performing our duties the ultimate sacrifice might be required of us in the service to our community.
For Law Enforcement is not a job but a calling and only a few will make the decision to commit to that calling to serve for some will give all that they have.
I commend you my fallen brother for making the ultimate sacrifice in the performance of your duty.
For you left us doing what you chose to do.
Performing a job you were trained to do.
Upholding the oath you swore to do.
Most importantly doing what you loved to do..........serving your community making a better and safer place for us all.
FINAL CALL
TROOPER WORKMAN STATUS..........TROOPER WORKMAN STATUS..........TROOPER WORKMAN STATUS..........
ATTENTION ALL UNITS..........WEST VIRGINIA STATE POLICE TROOPER ERIC M. WORKMAN HAVING SERVED THE CITIZENS OF THE STATE OF WEST VIRGINIA WITH HONOR AND DISTINCTION IS NOW 10-42.
Rest in Peace my Brother, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN !!!

The sacrifices you have made will never be forgotten. May love and support surround your families during many, many weeks to come during this time of need. I just hate to hear about senseless tragedies like this. It makes me so sad. My heart goes out to the families. Breaks my heart to read more officers dying in the hands of individuals that deserve no mercy. We are critized by the media by the public in what we do at times, and yet no one else is willing to do the job and take the risk of not going home. Here you have two officers that took that risk and dedicated their service and lifes to the public. Ultimately it cost them their lifes. My deepest condolences for the family and department family. Makes me tear to know they were brave enough to risk it and they gave it all. Gob bless them as they sit in heaven and watch upon us now.

As long as there are heroes such as yourself willing to do this job, in the line of duty deaths will always be a possibility. Without you, our society would surely suffer more than it already does. Thank you for your sacrifice, and may you rest in peace. Sincere thoughts are with those you left behind.

I feel a sense of great sorrow for these fine young officers and their loved ones. I was a Police Officer for 29 years for the City of San Luis Obispo Police Department in California. Law Enforcement is a very large close community and their loss is felt by many all over this nation. May God bless them and their families.

RIP My brother...this is dedicated to you and all of the other officers that have been killed in the line of duty.
Dear Public,
Here is ANOTHER reason why us cops do what we do during a traffic stop! Our jobs are hard enough...so of you do happened to get stopped by one of us...have a little respect and understanding. We do not know who you are or if you have just murdered someone...this is why we do the things...to get you on your way safely and we go home alive to our loved ones.

"The Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."
