R.I.P my Brother. My heart felt condolences go out to Corporal Bailey's family, friends, and the West Virgina State Police. May you find comfort in these hard times in knowing Corporal Bailey was a true "Sheep Dog that watched over his sheep protecting them from the wolves". My heart breaks for you all in losing this great man. My husband and I are from WV and we are both U. S. Park Rangers, Law Enforcement for the National Park Service. I worked at New River Gorge for 11 years and my husband worked there for 20 years. I am now in Fredericksburg VA and my husband is currently working in Alaska. I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Corporal Bailey during the annual New River Gorge "Bridge Day" Events. He was a wonderful person and officer. You will be in our prayers. God Bless Corporal Baily and Trooper Workman, their family, friends and coworkers.
"I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save.
I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom." Abraham Lincoln

As long as there are heroes such as yourself willing to do this job, in the line of duty deaths will always be a possibility. Without you, our society would surely suffer more than it already does. Thank you for your sacrifice, and may you rest in peace. Sincere thoughts are with those you left behind.

RIP My brother...this is dedicated to you and all of the other officers that have been killed in the line of duty.

Dear Public,
Here is ANOTHER reason why us cops do what we do during a traffic stop! Our jobs are hard enough...so of you do happened to get stopped by one of us...have a little respect and understanding. We do not know who you are or if you have just murdered someone...this is why we do the things...to get you on your way safely and we go home alive to our loved ones.

"The Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

Marshall,
After we graduated from the Academy, our paths never crossed again.
But I will always remember you as a level headed, good hearted, professional. You never had a negative thing to say about anyone. Good at EVERY Academy subject, you were never a braggart or the least bit arrogant. Always a team player & eager to help, you were a good man! I know that you've gone to that Detachment on the other side. God bless you Brother! You & your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
