Its almost 9 years… 9 years you have physically missed on Earth with your family… I am about to get married and I can’t have you physically here to share it with me like I did with your wedding. I hope to be making you proud Brandon! Everyday I try to make sure you will look down on me and be proud to call me your sister, to be proud of everything I choose to do in life. I love you so much and can’t still seem to fathom you gone. But my faith is strong and I know you are still close by. You would love your new nephews and see how big your only niece has gotten. I think you would love your brother n law to be!
Thank you for being the best big brother a sister could ask for!
Love you!!!

John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

Hey Brandon, I know you know that you are always on my mind and in our hearts. I still struggle with you being gone and how to honor you in my life - through how I love my family and just live my life in general. I designed a tattoo to honor you as well, but unfortunately the tattoo artist said it was too detailed to make work properly, so I just did a simple black sheriff badge with the date. I am working on a serious back piece that will honor you and Grandpa and the Cameron namesake and really focus on family and all of you that have gone before us and watch over us. I love you and I know you are at peace and watching over us all. Much love.

Brandon, just remembering back to being in your wedding and the good times we shared. Your sense of humor was awesome. I proudly displayed the inflatable sheep at work that you gave me for being your best man.

I'm honored to have had someone with such courage as my cousin. I miss you man.

In two weeks, several of your brothers and sisters in blue will hop on our bikes and cycle 250 miles into the Memorial that bares your name. We will do it to honor you, remember your sacrifice, and celebrate your life.

Thinking of you always!

Rest in peace brother; thank you for serving our beautiful Country as well as your community. God bless your family, friends and co-workers during this difficult time. Brother, you died bravely and with dignity while striving to keep your community safe. My prayers are with you and the family you left behind. My wish is that justice will be served and that the animals that took your life will ride that Long Black Train… We will continue the watch from here.

We honor your service to your community as a law enforcement officer and you will always be remembered and revered. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of our entire family, I wish to extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Brandon was killed. May his loved ones continue to be supported by their law enforcement family and other police survivors. Our family grieves with you and for you. To his family, you are in my heart's embrace today.

This must have been a devastating to the agency and community as well to have lost multiple officers and have another wounded in this incident. I am praying also for the recovery of the wounded officer.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinguished service Deputy Brandon Nielsen gave to his community and the citizens of Louisiana , and the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on August 16, 2012.

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"
