My dearest cousin Richard (Dickey). I will never forget you or the day that the phone call came that you had been shot and killed. What a shock! We drove from Atlanta to Reidsville as fast as possible. Your mother (my Aunt Rose from whom I get my middle name) had your bloody uniform in the washing machine when we arrived. I will never forget that. You were an only child. Two young children no longer had their father. You were shot in the face. Now all I have is memories. You will always be remembered. I love you Dickey. Your parents are gone. Your kids, Shane and Shanna, have grown into fine adults and are doing well. You live on in them. Govenor Joe Frank Harris named Rogers Correctional Facility after you. Your service ended with the ultimate sacrifice. R.I.P. Cuz.
