I am privileged to be among the first to pay tribute to you.
Your heroism and service is honored today, the 55th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. You will always be remembered and revered.
Rest In Peace

As my Dad worked at "the camp", as we called it, Mr. "Boss" Boutwell was killed with a baseball bat and there was only one inmate, Otis Thompson, charged with the crime, he got life for his deed and at the time only had a short time left on his sentence as I remember. And as a side note Thompson was such a trusted trustee at the time he rode to the hospital with Mr. Boutwell when he was transported by ambulance.

Officer Boutwell,
Sir, it has taken over 54 years but you are finally being honored. I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of the state of Alabama. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy. There is no tougher job in Law Enforcement than that of a Corrections Officer.
