It makes me wonder during his time h was "off duty" still doing his job, unlike the postman, or grocery bagger...or such. I stand with hand over my heart for you. Thank you so much for your undieing honor in caring for us (the innocent public)....may GOD bless you all and help you to find comfort and peace at this horrible time. My tears are with you as my prayers.

It is sad enough to see an officer, deputy or Trooper killed in the line of duty in uniform and working, but even sadder to see an off duty officer killed as they attempt to back up & assist other officers. Off. Goodson deserves a lot of credit for being willing to take action to apprehend a wanted criminal in spite of being off duty and it goes to show the dedication to serve and protect.

May his family and friends know of our thoughts and prayers in this time of grieving and loss, yet realize I am sure he did what he felt was necessary to protect them and his community. May that community honor him and provide for his wife and family and may he be remembered for his valor.

Deputy Bob Chauncey
