To the family, friends and colleagues of Master Police Officer Jeremiah M. Goodson, Jr.

My heart is filled with great sadness at the lost of your loved one and fellow officer.
We in the law enforcement community both active duty and retired, having walked the line of good over evil, knowing that at any moment a call for help may require us to make the ultimate sacrifice for our fellow man.

For Law Enforcement is not a job but a calling and only a few will make the decision to commit to that calling to serve for some will give all that they have.

I commend you my fallen brother for making the ultimate sacrifice in the performance of your duty.
You left us doing what you chose to do.
What you were trained to do.
Performing the oath you swore to do.
Most importantly doing what you loved to do.....serving your community making a better and safer place for us all.

Rest in Peace my brother, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN !!!

Illinois Secretary of State Department of Police

Avenue of the Fallen

Standing at attention in their class “A“ uniforms, badges gleaming and shoes like glass, are your brothers and sisters of Law Enforcement. All of whom have previously paid the ultimate price.
Today, like many others, they welcome you to this wonderful place. As you march down the Avenue of the Fallen, all eyes focus on you as if to say its ok you’re with your eternal partners. A salute is followed and a tear can be seen on so many faces.
Welcome, you served well.
Now come join us in the ranks, another is coming home.

Fallen Hero Prayer

I heard some tragic news today,
A hero that was tragically taken away.

He was a policeman with just one job to do,
To do his best to make this world better for me and you.

His oath to protect and serve is how he lived his life,
Now he leaves behind his family, his kids and his wife.

A man not doing this job just for fun,
No, a man doing his job because it has to be done.

A man so valiant, so brave, so strong,
Lord, please tell us what happened, what went wrong.

He was one of our own, a hometown hero,
Killed by a coward, a brute, a zero.

Someday his family and friends will look upon his memory and smile,
They will remember his sense of pride and how he went that extra mile.

How he wore his uniform and badge with honor and integrity,
Preforming his duties with the greatest sincerity.

Yes, another hero has been taken away,
But in our hearts he will always stay.

Lord, do not allow discouragement in our faith and belief,
And please comfort his family and friends during their time of grief.

You are loved and will be missed Jeremiah Goodson.
Amen, HNE
