Reflections for Police Officer Kevin E. Ambrose
Men like Officer Ambrose give all of us hope that there are still people in this world who believe in good, who place the safety of others above their own and who would rather lay down their life rather than swerve from the path of duty. God Bless you sir. May the Lord watch over your brothers in blue and your family. Thank you for all your years of service and vigilance.

Officer Ambrose... I want to thank youfor making an impact on my life when I was young. You bought me an Ice Cream when I was about 10 years old because I wanted to run away from home and although I forget what we talked about, you spent time with me when I needed it most. I will NEVER forget you and I will miss seeing you aiding around and the talks that we had. You were the BEST Police Officer I had ever met.

To the Ambrose Family, I wish to express my deepest sympathy. To the members of the Springfield Police Department, I know your pain. We lost a brother and a friend 10 years ago. Make sure that you honor Kevin and hold his family close. Take care of them. As time marches on, folks get back to their lives and forget those who were hurt the most. Be there for your family...but never forget that they are your family, too. If there is one thing they will need in the future, it will be to know you still care and are there for them. Being a brother or sister is more than a hand shake or attending memorial ceremonies. It's something that tugs at the heart and churns in your stomach to be as good a brother or sister that you can be, and never forget him. And for him...never forget them.

Kevin, you were one of the good guys. I remember you from one of the few contacts with police in my 46 years. It was during a bad car accident. You were professional, fair and empathetic with my family. A true loss to the City of Springfield. What a senseless loss. Rest in Peace. My prayers go out to you and your family sir.
