Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Detective Edwin Ortiz

Another year in Heaven my Brother. Thank you again for your service in my beloved NYPD. Many of us who were there are still with us, and many have gone home. Im still here and think often of those who are ill, and continue to fight. May you continue to rest in peace and watch over your wife and daughters always.

Eleven years seems like so long ago, because it is so long ago since you left us. You are missed horribly. We know you are with the warriors of Saint Michaels army of angels. I love you forever my husband

its the 20th year and 10th year of your reassignment to heaven my love. I know you are watching over us. you would not be happy with what has happened here to your beloved country or police department. we miss you horribly. we honored you once again yesterday at the reading of the names with the Tunnel to Towers organization. They did a beautiful ceremony in your honor and all those hundreds, thousand others that died with 9/11 illnesses. your memory will live on and I cherish and joyfully await the moment when I see you again, if only in my dreams.. I love you my guardian angel, my warrior, my husband. The girls are doing great and wouldn't you know it, after all these years you finally have grandchildren, and they are boys and all named after. you my love. may you soar with the angels and with your army of Saint Micheal warrior angels. I love you babe you will never be forgotten. muah!

Happy Birthday and 4th of July. Another year went by like I never imagined. All of us looked like stage coach robbers, without a horse. Its been a tough year of the left destroying history by knocking down statues all over the country. You would not have like what has happened to your beloved country. But, thank you again for your fight and tireless service to all of us who are still here. May you continue to rest in peace.

To think that in light of the anti police sentiment and racist police rhetoric that is going on across our country, largely thanks to a biased media, which is backed by so many spineless politicians that brave men and women like yourself are going to be losing their jobs due to cut funds to the police is mind boggling. It’s brave men such as yourself who made the ultimate sacrifice for the love of humankind and the love of your job without any questions asked. Today we say thank you and we remind you that your sacrifice is one that will never be forgotten. Rest In Peace always sir.

It is always with sadness that I leave a reflection to a hero who sacrificed his health, and ultimately his life to help and assist so many people during those many weeks at the 'Hole'. Yesterday the NYPD lost another hero -
Det. Louis Alvarez, (ret ), making the loss of our brothers and sisters to 222. And through his dedication and determination, through his illness, he lobbied and fought before a congressional hearing for the continuation of help for 911 responders. Brother Ed..you are gone and fought a good fight until the very end.
Although I have left reflections before, this one is of utmost importance because I had the honor in meeting your wife Daisy, at a forum where she and so many retired members discussed many topics and experiences in what they went through, in order to get their loved ones the proper benefits relating to the 911 illnesses. Their courage in standing up to the department showed their fierce devotion in schooling us in many expectations that may arise in the event of sickness. My brother, Daisy spoke eloquently and proud, and I was very fortunate to attend the forum. She had told me that your girls are doing great in their chosen professions, and that you would be very proud of their accomplishments. So Ed. continue to rest in perpetual peace and know that all of us who are still here, and were there at those sites will one day meet up with you to say thank you for your service and sacrifice. I know it will be my honor when it is my time.

John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

Continue to rest in the kingdom of Heaven my brother. You are loved there like you were loved here on Earth. May you always watch out for your loving family who miss you so much, and that they will always be safe from harm. I was there during those terrible tours. I'm still here. I don't know for how long. But, when I'm called it will be my honor too meet you and thank you for your service and sacrifice.

May you continue to rest in eternal peace my brother. Thank you for your service to all of us, and on those dark days in various assignments. Yes, most of us are still here, some of us are getting ill. But we pride in our selves for doing what comes natural. ..and that is to help any way we can. May you continue to watch over your loving family from a better place, and may God give strength to them for your loss. Until one day we meet.

As the 15th anniversary nears, i can't help but to remember how you rushed in to help. you never complained about it, quite to the contrary, you were honored to give of yourself on that day and all the other days you spent toiling through that rubble. i miss you babe, i wish you here every day. your memory lives in all those that remember you. Today i received a call from Reggie, he called to tell me he could not get you out of his mind. That even after all these years, he continued to look for me just to say how sorry he was to hear of your passing. Even after all these years Eddie, you are remembered as a caring, dedicated loving father and friend. I miss you babe, to the moon and back infinity times, i will always love you! please continue to guide, heal and protect us all. Rest with the Lord my beloved until we meet again!

I love you and miss you more than you ever said i would. to the moon and back infinity times, I love you.

I was sad to hear of your passing, Daisy immediately came to my mind as I remember what a great pair you guys were. I actually went to OCCB after talking to Daisy. I always remember Eddie as a caring individual and a well liked cop, always a professional. I want to salute you and say "May god look over your family always". It was an Honor to have know you !

it pains me to look at this page. you are and continue to be my hero. I love you and miss you more than you ever said i would. I realize that you would not have had it any other way. I trust that you are busy in heaven protecting us all. the selfish side of me begs that you return to me if only just to hold you, to tell you all these things that have inhibited me from moving ahead. I know that we will be together again, i only wish it were soon. to the moon and back infinity times, i love you babe.
