Justin, Since this tragedy has happened all I can think about is those few short days that I got to spend with you as my FTO. The conversations and laughs we shared over our experiences in law enforcement prior to our meeting were great and I'll never forget you. You were the first to give me that sense of family with the Cleveland Police Department. Thank You.

Danielle,

Thanks for your courage to walk by Faith. It's not easy when we don't quite understand God's full plan. Like you said, Justin fully knows, but you may not for several years or until you see him face to face. I know a little of your pain, my wife died rather quickly/unexpectedly at 33yrs old of cancer. There were many days that I clung to Proverbs 3:5+6, "Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all of your ways acknowledge Him, and he wil make your path straight."
The more I let that simple sounding verse take a hold of every thought and action, the more I realized how easy our responsiblity really is when were faced with unbearable situations. Nowhere in the scriptures does it say that we are suppossed to know the answers to every question, or know what the best decision is to handle every situation, but itstead it says to trust that the Lord knows, and that we don't have to rely on what we know(thank God). Put him first and he will direct you how to make the tough decisions. I'm sure that Justin is proud of you, and he will tell you to your face one day. That will be a happy day! I will pray for you to have the strength to face your kids everyday. I look forward to meeting Justin.

To the family, friends and co workers of Officer Maples,
I want to express our deepest sympothy for everyone close to Officer Maples. As officers and deputies we have a brotherhood that extends across the nation. When an officer passes we all feel a lost to our law enforcement family. I want to pass on the true words of honoring how Officer Maples lived and not how he died, giving the ultimate sacrifice for his fellow man. God Bless,

Asst. Chief Deputy Jimmy Davis
Loudon County Sheriff's Office, TN

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Mrs. Maples,

I have often been moved to tears by these reflections, but never more so than after reading your post. The mere fact you took the time to share your thoughts is inspiring.

I pray you and your sons will be looked over and cared for, both by the L.E. community still here and those who have gone before us.

God didn’t promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain; but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears and light for the way.

Rest in peace.

Danielle-
I do not know you or your family. I was so touched by your post regarding the loss of your husband. God will give you the courage to go on...Justin would want you to be strong. God will also give you strength to look into your boy's eyes...not to be sad for what you lost; but so thankful for what you have been given through your three sons. Three gifts. A reminder of the one you loved so much but was taken from you too soon. May God's peace and comfort be with you and your family.
