My sincere condolences to all of Officer padron's famly and friends. I know his passing will be morned all the more because it was so senseless and absolutely unnecessary. At moments like this, the mind automatically searches for a means of eliminating occurances such as this, as well as other alcohol-related deaths each year. I have long held the private belief that people should be required to have a license to purchase or consume alcoholic beverages. Not everyone can handle alcoholic beverages and many of those who can do not know when to stop. If people were required to have a license to purchase or consume alcohol, I believe they would exercise greater responsibility over their use of alcoholic beverages, because they would then have a license to protect from suspension, rather than the unlicensed privilege they currently exercise without restraint, except for the age requirement. I believe it is abundantly clear that more than the age requirement is necessary if we are to encourage greater responsibility in the purchase, distribution and consumption of alcoholic beverages.

Rest in peace, Officer Jaime Padron. You have given the ultimate sacrifice to protect me and all our citizens. My prayer is for your family that they will know the Comforter is with them in their grief. Officer Patron, you did your duty even though it meant your own mortal danger. This is what our APD Officers do. They have chosen this job to protect. Let the rest of us choose to support these men and women who are always there for us. God Bless you, Officer Patron, and your family and friends who grieve for your loss.
