For Senior Police Officer Jaime Padron:

The lone-officer always has the risk of resistance when making an arrest. To use force to soon makes him appear overbearing and "badge heavy." Too use force only when their is strong resistance might cost him his life. We regret that Jaime has become the victim of another coward who would suddenly pull a gun and shoot him dead. Sadly, the lesson is that making an arrest when one resists demands protection for the officer and must take precedence over all else. To those who will resist we should strive to ensure if one must be injured or killed it will not be the law officer. The good law officer is ready to give his life rather than swerve from the path of duty, but that does not mean he is ready to forfeit his life rather than use necessary force.
We pray for Jaime's family, friends, co-workers and all who care about him. May they be ready to reach-out to one another in the days ahead.
We are proud to render Officer Jaime Padron, a soldier of the law, a final salute.

Rest in peace knowing you did your job. When you put on your badge that morning you didnt know that ''good bye'' would actually BE ''good bye''. My heart hurts for your family. But rest now knowing that Justice will be served in your honor. Rest now knowing that your family will be taken care of. Rest now knowing you were loved beyond measure. Rest now knowing that Heaven is right around the corner for you.

To Remember the Fallen

to remember the fallen
is not to remember how they fell
but to remember why and for what

to remember the fallen
is not only to remember their actions
but to remember the dream for which they fought

to remember the fallen
is not to remember how they fought
but to remember who they fought for

to remember the fallen
is to remember their reason
to remember their dreams
and to remember those they fought to save

to remember the fallen
we continue their fight
we carry their dreams
and we finish what they start

Officer Padron, there are no words. Just know that you are and will always be a hero in this city. I have stood behind a few police officers as a crime victim and can say they were and are, all my heroes; heroes beyond description. When my heart was filled with fear - you and your brothers and sisters in blue were there to protect and put your life on the line for those who could not do so for themselves. Is there any other definition of a hero? After having been protected and saved by your fellow brothers and sisters in blue, I can never see "just a cop" again - you are all heroes to me and I am shocked and devastated at the loss for all of us. While I never met you personally, I am so heartbroken that one of Austin's finest was taken far too soon! You have served well and know that your precious girls will always be in my prayers. I thank you for the bravery you displayed everyday and the integrity, gentleness, and kindness with which you showed it - it is a testament to your character and now your legacy. You are a true police officer in every sense of the word. This is certainly the city of Austin's loss and Heaven's gain. Those whose lives you've touched deeply in your work (and please know for the lack of thank you's - there are the ones who will *never* forget your being there when nobody else was - I can promise you, I am one who will never forget the officers who saved my life), your fellow officers, and most of all your family will never be the same for your being taken from us but we will all be better for you having been a part of our lives and keeping watch in our city. May your girls always know just what an amazing hero their father is and may God bring them comfort and peace in their time of pain. We owe you such a debt - one that I hope will start with extending our care and gratitude to your brothers and sisters in APD. Rest In Peace.
