Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Michael Christopher Walizer

Michael, this is Mom. I know that you were there watching all of us your family this Police Week in DC. It was a week of many different emotions. You are missed so very much but the true proof was there…you would never be forgotten by you family especially by your young son Logan. Michael it was such an overwhelming sight to see all of the Law Enforcement from all over the nation there showing their love and respect for you and the other new names that were etched on the wall, for all of the fallen officers throughout the many years. They came on bicycles, they came on motorcycles they were there for you son and all of the other’s in remembrance. Now I know just want you were feeling and describing to me that week you were at the Memorial in 2003 to remember your brother’s in blue for their extreme sacrifice. I was greeted by so many officers that took my hand and said I am sorry for you loss and your son will never be forgotten. You are in heaven now Michael you will always be missed but you will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace son, I will love you forever and we will see each other again. Love, Mom

Hello, I'm an officer with Maryland Transportation Authority Police and today I ran in the National Police Week 5K and Michael's name was on my bib #. I just wanted to find out who I was running for.
I'm VERY sorry that he couldn't be one of the runners along side "US", the hundreds that tried to make the fallen proud.

Michael,
Your commitment to serve the public started long before the airport, I always remembered working with you at Alpha Omega Security in Newport News. So many in the security business come and go that it's impossible to remember them all. But you were one of the unique ones that I never forgot.
I was sad that we didn't get to work together at the airport, you had left before I arrived, but still proud to be one of those that knew you.
It hurt very much to hear of your accident, and your loss to Charles City and all who knew you there too. I know that everyone shared many good times working with you just as I did.
Rest in peace my friend. You were the best.

Though I never knew him, he was part of my Law Enforcement family and I will mourn this deep loss the rest of my life. My heart aches with all the losses we have suffered, and continue to suffer, through the years. God is our only peace through such incidents. May family & friends feel the presence of the "God of All Comfort" as they endure the distressing days ahead. I join them in their agonizing grief & remember them in my prayers.

Another senseless tragedy
Another day of grief,
Another day of praying
To help us find relief.

Relief from bitter anguish
Relief from rage so great,
Relief from lenient justice
Which continues to seal our fate.

Relief from heartache’s torment
As we continue on,
Oh, the awesome loss of brotherhood
Now that you are gone.

Though our hearts are deeply broken
And our tears forever flow,
There’s a comforting assurance
That now with God you go.

We know that you are welcome
Now at Heaven’s gate,
While meeting brothers & sisters
Who also met such fate.

The family of Law Enforcement
Knows no distance here or there,
And we recall in comfort
You await us there.
