I consider myself a typical brave manly man. I could never do your job. A job in which you know that even on the most uneventful day, things can violently turn against you in a moment. No matter if you're a small town cop, big city sheriff, or federal marshal, you face each day knowing that it could be your last. And yet you still don't hesitate to mark 10-41. You do this knowing that many people despise what you stand for without attempting to understand you. Please know that the majority are eternally grateful to you, and understand the sacrifices you make each day so that we do not need concern ourselves with the need to be brave, for we are safe.
Deputy Sheriff Barbara Pill gave her life doing this for us. She recognized a danger to everyone including herself and accepted the responsibility to address it.
Thank you.

Indiana Department of Transportation, Division of Highway Maintenance
