Detective David White, words cannot express the appreciation for your devotion and courage to our profession and to the protection of your community and our country. May the good Lord keep you under his wing and stand proudly beside you as the others who were honored to work beside you did here on Earth. May you rest in peace brother. We shall push on in your honor.

Brother,
I trust you are in the Loving Arms of Jesus, walking the roads of Heaven where your services are no longer needed as a Law Enorcement Officer. Let it be known, as certain as I am that the Lord gave you a Heros welcome into the realm of Heaven, a Heros exit you had here on Earth. My prayers are with your family and your Sheriffs Office sir, may you now enjoy the beauty, splendor and peace of Heaven, knowing your brothers and sisters in uniform here on Earth will dilligently and without fail perform the duty you so boldly did.
God Bless You and Your Family

I have had the pleasure of working with David White and Matt Hanlin. Jennifer, I want to let you know he loved you and the kids more than his own life, We spoke several times in my office about the babies and you.Cherish every memory, that's why God gave them to us. I've never felt like I'm sorry is enough. It's really not but I am. Our family is praying for God to give you the peace that passes all understanding. Matt I praise God you will get well, Mrs Hanlin, Matt loves his family the same way. Matt God has a plan for you. You and David both amazed me. Thank you David for giving all you had, and thank you Matt and every CCSO Officer whos willing to do the same for us everyday.God bless you all.

Please accept my deepest condolences. I served with Dave in Iraq for a year during our deployment with the 351st Military Police Company. I was the company commander, and I must say that Dave was the utmost professional and dedicated military police officer. He always accomplished his mission. While this is terribly tragic, it is not surprising to see that Dave sacrificed his own safety and well being in serving his community and providing for the safety of those he loved. Such an honor to have served with him. He is surely in the arms of God.

"The Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

Our hearts got out to the family of the brave hero, Detective White. All he ever wanted to do was to protect the public and keep us safe from the kind of scum that took his life. All of Clay County, from the Sheriff's Office to the general public, has lost a truly great man. May he rest in peace!
