Reflections for Police Officer Steven Caserlos Dion Green, Sr.
Officer Green, I was working the day it happened. I was being given play by play of the events that were unfolding. After finding out the suspect was not coming our way any longer, my shift watched the live TV footage hoping the informtion we were being told wasnt true. Sadly it was. I later rode my motor in ur motorcade and I must tell you in all of my 14 years I have never seen so many citizens come out to show their support for you, your family and your brothers and sisters of the Mobile Police Dept. It was very nice to see that. Your loss was not for nothing. Policies are being changed as we speak across the nation, especially here along the coast to prevent another tragic loss. In death you have saved more lives then you will ever know. Officer Green rest assured we will take care of your family and thank you for saving countless lives in the future.

Even though I had no personal connection to Officer Steven Green, my heart aches. I just don't understand, and I try to remind myself that God has a plan for us all that must one day be carried out. However, I'm still left with no understanding of why it had to happen in such a tragic manner. I pray for the Green family constantly, and I also ask God to ease my heavy heart. I pray that God gives the family strength to endure the long journey ahead. I ask God to wrap you in the comfort of his loving arms and hold you tightly. I ask God, with each passing day, to make things a little more bearable. I ask that God will take away the pain and fill your hearts and minds with joyous memories of Steven. I know it's going to take prayer and time, but I pray that God will bring you to the point where you're able to sit around and talk about Steven and share memories that make you smile with happiness. I told myself I wasn't going to watch the news anymore because I don't want to keep crying and feeling this pain, but everywhere I look there are constant reminders. I pray for the family, as well as myself, that we may heal with each passing day. Officer Steven Green has touched so many lives. He must be truly one special man. Rest in eternal peace with our Heavenly Father Officer Green.
Praying always,
Mrs. Tameka Lawson

"Never forget what they did here. It is rather for us, the living, to be dedicated here to the great task remaining before us - that, from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they here, gave the last full measure of devotion - that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain."

MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU, YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR DEPARTMENT. SUCH A SENSELESS LOSS FROM A CHAIN OF EVENTS STARTING WITH POOR CHOICES ESCALATING INTO MORE BAD DECISIONS. IF ONLY THESE COWARDS COULD FACE THE MUSIC FOR THEIR CRIMES INSTEAD OF TAKING A BROTHER OFFICER, HUSBAND AND FATHER AS HAPPENS TO OFTEN. GOD BLESS AND KEEP YOU OFC. GREEN. YOU'LL BE JOINING AN ELITE GROUP OF OFFICERS WHO HAVE FALLEN BEFORE YOU.

Dear Steve:
Once again, I find myself writing yet another reflection to yet another brother, taken from us. I wish there were some way to convey to you and your family, that though you are gone from here, you still walk among us. Your legacy carries on with your children. I hope God will keep them close to Him, and ease the pain they have to endure because of that animal. Thankfully, he is no longer with us.
If I can speak to the rest of my law enforcement family, throughout the nation, particularly those of you that are Dads; watch the film, "Courageous", then commit yourself to your family AGAIN, and your career. Give thanks to Him for every day, and every end of your tour of duty.
And to the public we serve; you have NO IDEA what we the police go through to ensure you and your families are safe at night, and can rest well. You have NO CLUE what our wives, husbands, children, parents go through FOREVER when once of us makes the ultimate sacrifice. But we do this job, as did Steve, because we care and we know someone has to answer the cry of the wolf at the front door. As our military protects the Homeland from terror overseas, we the police, do it right here at home. So the next time you see a police officer, just like you would a soldier, thank him or her for their service and sacrifice.
Steve, rest in peace. Smile down on us still here, and know you are a part of the greatest fraternity on earth: POLICE OFFICER. God Bless you, your family, police officers everywhere, and, GOD BLESS AMERICA.

To Protect and Serve
The men and women of blue put their lives on the line daily not knowing if today would be the last day they shall see their families. It is a job sworn under oath to protect and serve the communities in which they live (Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends John 15:13). It is a profession opposed by most, but honored by many. It is not a job where they’re paid to get rich, but it’s the richness in protecting and serving people. Officers, wear many faces; a counselor, teacher, preacher, mentor, social worker and sometimes even a friend. At the same time, officers take a fair amount of abuse on a day to day basis from citizens, receiving little respect, and being put in harm’s way regularly. They are called upon to make split second decisions; to uphold the law, maintain order, bring peace, and provide protection and hopefully less often than most, the decision to use deadly force. Being an officer brings about Pride, Commitment, Dedication and Professionalism. It’s the chariot of fire that sets the standard to bring upon law to the lawless and to provide safety and insure peace to those who abide by it. And God Bless them, if the day shall ever come when he or she are unable to protect and serve no more, we hope (His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.) and that the life in which he or she lived was not all done in vain.
Dedicated: To Officer S. Green and the many other Men and Women in blue, who has paid the ultimate sacrifice? To Protect & Serve

Such a brutal murder of such a fine man. There are no words to express the profound sorrow for your loss. An entire county is in mourning. The impact will be remembered for years to come. I wish I had comforting words, but they won't come. All I can say is that I am so incredibly sorry for your loss.
