Police Officer's Prayer to St. Michael,
St. Michael, Heavens's glorious Commisioner of Police, who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional eye on your earthly force.
Give us cool hearts, stout hearts, hard punches, an uncanny flair for investigation and wise judgment.
Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores, strict with law-breakers and imprevious to temptation.
You know, St. Michael, from your own experiences with the devil that the policeman's lot on earth is not always a happy one; but your hard knocks that so suprised the devil, and your angelic self control give us inspiration.
And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your Heavenly Force, where we will be as proud to guard the throne of God as we have been to guard the city of men. Amen.

Garret,
I was hoping I did not know you when I heard of your passing. Somehow I thought that might make it easier. However, when I saw your photograph I realized that I did, we were in the same APEC training group. We shared some laughs and small talk, although I never introduced myself formally. I will remember you as a friendly, decent person that was easy to talk too and I'm sure that others will remember you the same way. Your sacrifice will not be forgotten.
Rest in peace and we will keep up the good fight down here.
