I can remember the first time I was a cadet in Ad Seg with your husband when he shared his meal with me and we bragged about your cooking. I can remember when you would walk the hallways with a smile or a word of encouragement to a new Officer. Then the day I heard about your murder my Lt. and Sgt came to the Infirmary at the Hawkins Unit where I was on duty and we shared our silent grief. I remember the day of your funeral there was a ring of officers surrounding the building and we wept. You are still missed to this day.

John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

Just reflecting...as I sit here, manning a control tower(Sheriff's Dept). I am a former ADOC C/O, as well as a former Mississippi DOC Correctional Officer. My passion is in Nursing, however, my calling is MINISTRY in Corrections. It takes a brave soul to walk in the shoes of Cpl B Ester. Her integrity and dedication shines still, even under the circumstances. I still pray for her family and friends, as well as co-workers. Her and the sacrifice she made will never be forgotten. My hope today is that I touch souls here and that God keeps a hedge of protection over us all. Rest in peace & love beautiful spirit.

I was an inmate at Brickeys prison and I just want to say that mrs. Ester is still held in high esteem by staff and inmates alike. She showed a level of bravery that even the supervising officer could not.

I was going through the Academy the day this happened. The assistant warden of our unit came and talked to us about it. It made 48 future officers stronger and tougher and made us realize the job we were taking on. Thank you for your service and I hope to be half the officer you were one day.

I attended your memorial. I wish that I had had an opportunity to know you in the living years. The anount of support and love which was shown the day you were laid to rest was awe inspiring. Chiefs-of-State seldom have memorials which rise to the level that was shown that day. It is hard to believe that it all happened (2) two years ago. Barbara, rest in peace and rest well, we now man the watch towers in your memory.
