I was fortunate to have had the pleasure of working with you in the Special Housing Unit and within the complex. Your enthusiasm and personality was contagious. You made a tough place to work so much easier. No task was too small and no favor was ever denied. You will be missed.

"God bless my family when I am away,
Leave the lights on I'll return from harms way,

Grant me courage and strength to protect others each day,
So they live in peace without worry, fear or dismay,

Bless those who have fallen given their life for another
May their spirit live on from then and forever,

Return me home to my family at the end of each night,
May I pass through the door before the morning's first light,

Shall I give my life for another before the dawn breaks today,
God bless my family when I am away." Written by D. Adams

Thanks for your heartfelt and courageous service to your community. Prayers go out to your family.

God's signs are not always the ones we look for, for we often learn in times of tragedy that His purposes are not always our own--or what we hoped for. There will always be much specualtion about the day when God decided your time here was done; "what ifs" about the tragic accident and those involved; what you could have done--or didn't do. But one thing is very clear, and that's the life you lived, the influence you had on so many people's lives, and your commitment to and loyal service behind the badge.

I'll not mourn your passing my ole friend, but I'll do my best to share a celebration of your life as a long time friend and fellow officer.

In Christ -

Police Officer's Prayer to St. Michael

Saint Michael, heaven's glorious commissioner of police,
who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises
of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional
eyes on your earthly force.

Give us cool heads, stout hearts, and uncanny flair for
investigation and wise judgement.

Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and
law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores,
strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations.

You know, Saint Michael, from your own experiences
with the devil that the police officer's lot on earth is not
always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so
pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the
devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration.

And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your
heavenly force, where we will be as proud to guard the
throne of God as we have been to guard the city of all
the people. Amen.
