The other agent's name was Ralph Raymond Wiest Sr., my father. I am honored to have learned a little bit more about what happened. My dad didn't talk too much about Vietnam when we were growing up. I am slowly learning and appreciating more and more the sacrifices that were made.

I was also CID Agent and Leroy Halberts partner the night of the murder. I was assigned as duty investigator and Leroy was assigned with another Agent the night of this tragedy. I overheard the original radio call while at 630 MP station doing paperwork from the crimes that came in that night. I to worked on the search in Sou Chin for the killers. Members of a Transportation BN as I remember.

I was the Agent who carried the 45 cal Thompson most of the time. After service on went on to a 32 year Law Enforcement Career. Our assignments were just the luck of the draw at the time. I have survivors guilt to this day about this matter. I tried to contact members of family or friends but never able to do so. Leroy is buried with his father in California. He was a gentle giant, I will never forget.

Brian Jones, thanks for the help that terrible night. 630 MP and 218th MP always had our backs!

God Rest his soul! A good man done to death by a man who should not have been out walking around. It was well known that the killer was a dangerous criminal. Two months earlier he had pulled a .38 on me and my partners, and later that day, went for me with a double bladed axe. He was part of a very dangerous, organized gang.

I waqs one of the MP's who went to village on ther murder night looking for the killers. The killer was later caught and went to Ft. Leavenworth.

Agent Halbert was truly a good man.
