My deepest condolences to the family, members of the Park Service, and those of this great country she served, at the loss of this Ranger. May faith, family, friends and time join together to ease everyone’s pain at this time of loss.
While many other career choices were certainly available, this Ranger chose to protect her fellow man, and for this we give everlasting thanks. As the Good Lord said, “Blessed are the Peacemakers.”
Thank you for your service, your convictions and moral character, as well as your devotion to duty. May you now rest in peace, knowing your fellow brothers and sisters will continue the Watch!

From what I've read so far, it's obvious there are many people who thought very highly of Margaret Anderson. One day her little girls will be old enough to appreciate hearing stories from them about what their mother was like as a person. She will be a good example for them when they hear about her dedication to her career and how she was respected by her peers. God be with her husband, family, and everyone else who loved her during this dark time.
I am so sorry for your loss.

My family and I visited Mt Rainier the evening before. I spoke with Margaret briefly when she smiled at me and told me my kids were beautifull. There are no words to describe how we all feel. I am truly sorry for her family and friends, and we have been praying for them.

I know who you are Margaret. I was a female Ranger, married to a Ranger too, heavily involved with the EMS program, the youngest of three, and I too have a 3 year old daughter. I understand all of your struggles and sacrifices and all the stuff you have gone through as a couple to establish a NPS life together. You should be proud of your success, all that you have achieved, in finding a amazing partner in life, and then giving life to those two new beautiful little souls - your daughters. Smile in heaven and know that Eric will take care of them well, because you chose well.

I worked with Margaret in Bryce Canyon, so long ago. I respected her then, as I do now. God speed. Peace be with you and your family during this heavy time. Thank you for your service.

Dear Ranger Anderson,
I've read of other officers dying on duty while their spouse was nearby or directly involved. It's always heartbreaking. To add that you had children is heart wrenching. This man who did this had very sad and serious issues, but why did he have to take your life? We may never truly know and that too is bothersome.
For all you did for the Park Service, for all you did in your personal life, I pray you make your way straight to Heaven, a place you so deserve to go to.
I have a connection of sorts in that a dear friend was a classmate of yours. She's already lost someone close to her and now to lose a classmate is awful. I pray there are no more.
God Bless and may you forever Rest in Peace, Sister.

To Eric and to Margaret's daughters: My wish for you is that you find peace in the midst of this tragedy. Seeing her picture on the news and hearing what her colleagues have to say about her, she seems like she was such a wonderfu, beautiful person. I go to Rainier alot, and from now on it will be impossible to pass by the flats below Paradise without remembering her. And we will make sure it is a positive memory.
