The National Park Service family appreciates your dedication, bravery and commitment to this country. As a federal protection officer for the National Park Service, you were charged not only with protecting our cultural and natural treasures, but more importantly, protecting the people of this nation as a law enforcement officer. You gave the ultimate sacrifice and protected numerous people in the process. The loss of Park Ranger Margaret Anderson is truly tragic and my thoughts and prayers are with you- her husband, children, friends, and family. May you find peace in the days, months, and years to come and may you find comfort knowing the entire nation is thinking of you. As you heal, look to the natural world that your mother, spouse, and friend loved so much and know that she would want you to continue to live your lives to the fullest and continue to appreciate and enjoy nature.

MARGARET IS A HERO. She expected to go home at the end of her shift but laid down her life for all of us instead. MARGARET IS A HERO.

My condolences to the family. No words can express enough sorrow for the loss your family (and this world) is now suffering from.

My deepest condolences to the Anderson family & Mrs. Anderson's colleagues at Mt. Rainier & the NPS on your loss. Having lived through the equally senseless shooting in my hometown of Tucson AZ a year ago, I understand what many of you are feeling. My thoughts & prayers are with you all at this difficult time.

My first job out of college was as a seasonal park ranger for the Park Service and I experienced the dedication and professionalism of NPS rangers first hand. I'm sure that Ranger Anderson was a credit to her profession and she will be missed and mourned by all.

Thank you so very much for your service, Ranger Anderson. I grew up in Olympia, and my family and I would go to Mt. Rainier multiple times a year. Your 'office' is gorgeous, and now it is less with you gone. You did not just die a hero, but you lived as one. My thoughts are with your family, friends, co-workers, and the entire state of Washington. Thank you for everything.

My condolences to Ranger Eric and his family. As an employee of a conservation department we feel for the loss of Margaret. We do this job, not for the pay, but because we love the great outdoors and strive to protect the enviroment and this country's natural beauty. No matter what state of the union we may live in.

To the family of Ms. Anderson - your loved one was a true public servant as demonstrated by her actions. You can be proud of the job she did not only on that day but on all the days before. She may be gone in body but lives on in the spirit of her children and family. As a public servant, I am proud to follow her example and continue to serve in whatever capacity I am needed at whatever time. I hope the public never forgets her sacrifice and the sacrifice of so many as they protect and defend public lands. God bless your family, may you feel His loving arms around you as you grieve and remember.

Words can not express what a hero Margaret was. My family and I were up on the hill sledding that morning as we do every new years day, we met her as we were parking and if not for her the four kids with us (ages 2, 4, 7 & 11) and the other 6 adults and probably many of the other children and families around us may not be here today. We owe her everything and we will never be able to repay what she gave for us. She is a hero, not many would put their life on the line for others, but I will think of her everyday when I look at my kids and realize how truly blessed I am to have them here and all our family that survived because of her. Her sacrifice will never be forgotten and even though I only met her for a moment she will always have a place in my heart.
Our prayers are with her family and especially her children, I hope they learn what an amzing person she was and how many lives she saved and impacted.
May God Bless her and her family, she will live on in our hearts forever.

I had the wonderful opportunity to attend church with Margaret at St. John's Lutheran in Lovettsville, VA about 5 years ago before they moved. She and I, along with another couple, were all pregnant with our firsts and would sometimes visit and share pregnancy stories with one another. Margaret was always so sweet and considerate. She always had a smile on her face. We even had the chance to spend time together at our pastor's house one night after I had had my first who was just months old. Margaret still hadn't given birth yet. That night was special as we shared stories of past times and dreams of future ones to come. I'm so happy I had a chance to meet her and get to know her and Eric. Eric, you and your little ones are in my prayers. I ask God to bless your little girls as they grow and know their mother's love will always encompass them.

My father was the Chief Naturalist at Mt Rainer in the 1960s. Our family lived at the park then. It was happier times then. I have vivid memories of Mt Rainer!

Condolences to the family of the park ranger. So verry sorry!

My family and I offer our prayers for Park Ranger Anderson and her family. Thankfully, the alleged assailant has been captured and will put on trial. Our law enforcement officials work too hard and put too much on the line to be attacked and killed so senselessly.
