I am praying God will comfort the family with his love and presence. This violent, sad and undeserved incident is heart wrenching. Both the killer and Ranger Anderson were victims of the Iraq war. It is sad, sad, sad.

Thanks to Ranger Anderson, her husband and all rangers for service to the public.

Margaret was my best friend in college and remains to this day a very close friend. We met in the dorms at Kansas State University and immediately bonded as two coastal people (I from southern California and she from New Jersey) literally meeting in the middle. I received a Christmas card from her 4 days before she died. I will miss her forever.

Bless you Ranger Margaret. You did the right thing, you stopped an angered soul from carrying out anymore carnage.

You will always be remembered for being a hero, and you're daughters will be so proud of your selfless efforts to keep others safe.

God will keep your family safe. Rest in Peace.

Dear Ranger Anderson and your beloved family, friends and fellow partners, when I saw the picture of the deer walking by the fallen flag, I guess that said it all. The mountain was your home and you were respected and loved. Godspeed, you will never be alone.

I never had the pleasuer to meet ranger Anderson, but i will say this. She was a great person doing what she loved and to have to die in the line of duty is so bad, but to lose your life because of the problems one has like the killer, well its just so upsetting to me. We need to focus more on our officers and do something to save them . The yeay 2011 was a very bad year. I pray 2012 will be a better year.Rest in Peace Margaret Andeerson,Park Rander for the dept. of Interior.

I will forever remember you. Two years ago my family and I took a trip to the Mt. Rainier to spend some time with my father before he died from cancer. We stopped for lunch and Park Ranger Margaret stopped to talk to us. She was very polite and asked us how we were enjoying everything. She was polite, very nice, and really seemed to care about everyone even if she just met them. She made one of our final trips with my dad very enjoyable. After she left, I wish I would have asked her to join in a picture with our family. Thank you Park Ranger Anderson. RIP. You and your family will forever be in my thoughts and prayers.

Margaret - Justin and I were driving in the Watchung Mountains (which are mounds of dirt compared to your Mt. Ranier) on Sunday afternoon January 1st...and we were talking about you. We talked about you and Eric and the girls often, remembering our visit to you a few summers ago. Thinking fondly of Anna wearing a take-out box on her head as a hat. We love and miss you. You are a true person of light and honor.

To all the Park Rangers out there-Thank you for keeping us safe and for working long hours with low pay. I'm sure there are times you don't feel appreciated, but every day and every time you step out there you are helping to keep our families safe and to enjoy the outdoors. I'm so sorry for the loss of your colleague, peer, and friend. To Margaret's family I'm sorry for your loss, and I thank you for your sacrifice. It doesn't help, but I hope one do you can look back and know how much her time and service meant to others there that day and every day.

I remember Margaret and Eric from my days at Bryce Canyon NP......Margaret was a young ranger, just beginning to show her great potential. She was dedicated, professional, and obviously loved her job. That she died a hero is tragic.....but no surprise. She was that kind of person, an example for all of us.

My deepest condolences to Eric and the kids......a bright light has been snuffed out. Rest in peace....you will be missed.

We are sometimes not appreciated for enforcing the law of the land until we have to make the supreme sacrifice of laying our lifes down to protect others! We are proud to serve and protect others and we pray that we live to retire someday, but some have to die in order to protect the public! My thoughts and prayers go out to this brave rangers family and I am so sorry for your loss!
