It is not only a department that suffers when a cop is lost, but also a nation of police who's hearts simply sink. And it is not how Margaret lost her life that makes her a hero, but how she lived. RIP

I remember Margaret from her time in Harpers Ferry. She was a kind and gentle person. I only knew her from treating her in our dental office but she made an impression and was part of our dental family. She will be missed and my prayers go out to her family and close friends

I grew up around and served with rangers who daringly and selflessly sought the lost, saved the stranded, rescued the injured, and arrested the bad guys. And then they came home and were dads, moms, friends, siblings, and good neighbors. I am so terribly sad for the Anderson family and will be keeping you and the rest of the NPS community in my thoughts and prayers. Thanks to all of you who serve. You are my heroes!

Dear Margaret and family,

Thank you for your great sacrifice. I appreciate your service. your family, Mount Rainier, the National Park Service has lost a great person. We all lost a bit of ourselves through this terrible incident. I do not know you well but can see how many people respected and cared about you. (Tonight there has been well over 40 pages from around the country on your behalf). This alone stands as a honor and testament of your service and your important contribution to our world.

I interacted with you once during my work at the park during 2009 and again briefly this past Nov. 2011. You represented the Park Service proudly and I appreciate all you and your family, co-workers and others do to make the parks and our world a better place. Thank you for all of your contributions.

God Bless your family. Nature has lost a good friend. May your family be able to get though this and remember your positive
contributions and realize they have support from a lot of people.

My heart and prayers go out to Margaret's family, friends, and co-workers as they deal with this terrible loss. You showed what the true meaning of being a Park Ranger is all about by your dedication to duty. I have been fortunate to work with Park Rangers at Sunrise and White River many years ago as a VIP. Your actions and bravery definitely uphold the "creed" that all Park Rangers ahold to. May you now rest in peace with God. Job well done, PR Anderson. Job well done.
