I am very saddened by the loss of Ranger Margaret Anderson. Early in my career, I worked in USFS campgrounds, collected fees, conducted maintenance, and of course, ran into some very unpleasant people who wouldn't follow the rules. One does not do this type of work for prestige or the money, but for the love of the outdoors and the unique ideal of serving the public. Some may denigrate public service, but I will never forget Ranger Anderson's ultimate sacrifice in the simple performance of her daily duties. I will keeo her and her family in my thoughts and prayers.

I will never forget Margaret in Bryce Canyon. She was a friend to all and loved her work. She did everything for everyone in every division. She will be missed by her Bryce Canyon NPS family. Our prayers are with you Eric and your girls. May you have peace someday.

I feel your family's pain and anger, because in 1970 I also lost a family member who was shot and killed in the line of duty. I feel your coworker's pain and anger, because I have also worked in national parks. The morning after you died I asked the Lord Almighty God to take that gunman's life so your family would never have to see your killer's face in a courtroom. In the Holy Bible, Jesus said, "Whatever you ask for in my name, this I will do, so the Father will be glorified through the Son. You can ask me to do anything and I will do it" John 14:13-14.
I will see you in Heaven!

My heart goes out to the family and friends of Ranger Anderson. I want to thank her and all rangers for their selfless survice. As a retired employee of the MO Department of Conservation, I have seen first hand the intense dedication and quiet unassuming way in which agents and rangers go about their business. They are all amazing people who deserve our highest respect and regard.
My daughter lives in Tacoma and has been camping, snowshoeing and climbing in that beautiful park on many occasions. I know the rangers will look after her if she ever needs them, and that is a comforting thought.
Thank you all and may you find peace.

My thoughts and prayers are with your husband, children and your family. Through your sacrifice to protect and save others, unfortunately your husband, children and family will suffer the most. I can only hope they will one day know in their hearts that because of your love for them that you were able to do your job in the manner in which you did. The entire United States is affected by losing you. Godspeed Park Ranger Margaret Anderson.

Ranger Anderson,
When I was in my early 20's, I wore that same uniform that you wore. It was the best job I've ever had. A person does not become a ranger for the money; it's because of our love for being outdoors - and being a law enforcement ranger shows our desire to keep the visitors, animals & environment safe. I never got the news that any of my "fellow rangers" had been hurt or killed but my first husband (and co-worker) was killed in the line of duty so I know the pain your family, friends & co-workers are going through. I pray the Lord will wrap his loving arms around each of them and help them through the difficult days ahead. I hope your children will share your love of our National Parks as they grow older and know their Mom was a hero!
