Reflections for Park Ranger Margaret A. Anderson
At this point I will be number 1180 in terms of comments and reflections here and I know my words will likely never be read. I have all my adult life dreamed of being a park ranger at Mt Rainier National Park, but was put off by the law enforcement aspect. My grandparents served as rangers in the mid 1940's and spent thier honeymoon at Paradise Lodge. I don't really know if this influenced my dreams but I'm sure its in the narrative somewhere. I grew up in the 70's and 80's spending many a weekend visiting what my grandparents called "Our Mountain", too many locations to name her but I know you know Margaret. Being residents of Tacoma, the mountain was always or backdrop, weather permiting. I am overcome with a deep sadness since hearing of Ranger Andersons passing, so senseless and random and impossible to understand. I chose the safer road, I carry out my days in service to the people of Washington state as a financial worker with DSHS. It can be a difficult job I assure you but one I never expect, as I know Margaret didn't , to give my life for. I commend and honor you Margaret for having the bravery that I didn't, to get past the Law Enforcement aspect of the job qualifications, something that so many of the public that you serve never realize is a requirment, and to live what I hope was your dream. I am so sorry for your babies, and will never forget you but will think of you often. You have inspired me to rethink the costs of the jobs you and I do, and perhaps I will fulfill my dream after-all.

When my military sons came home from leave, the mountain was their sanctuary to get themselves together. There was no place like home. People like you Margaret gave them that gift. Eric, in your grief please know you both have contributed so much to the lives of people you will never know or how much you are truly cared about. May God grant you peace in time and hug those beautiful babies for us

My deepest condolences to Margaret's family. I am heartbroken for your loss. I was privileged to know and work with Margaret for a season at Bryce Canyon NP. I always admired her positive, upbeat spirit and her professionalism. Margaret truly lived her life to the fullest. For the short time that I knew her, I learned a lot from her. This is just so sad. May God comfort your family.

My prayers go out to Ranger Anderson's family and friends. She was a hero, and it's sad that she won't be able to raise her daughters - they deserve to know what a wonderful person their mother was.

May God comfort the family, friends and co-workers who feel the pain of the loss of Ranger Margaret Anderson. Having had the pleasure of visiting Mt. Rainier National Park several years ago, I can only imagine the delight Ranger Anderson found in working at such a beautiful location. How thrilled she will be to walk in the gardens of Heaven and explore the beauty that awaits our newest guardian angel.
Rest in peace sister.

"I see the hurt you hide so well watching my soul set sail
A dreadful day we knew would come still the hurt I could not tell
I'm grateful for the time we've had
The laughter my heart made glad
But now it's time for me to go your heart will break I know
My body they did break as well life has willed it so
Take my hand and I'll hold you through every storm of pain
I'll be back soon one glorious morning come sunshine or rain".

Margaret,
I remember your positive attitude during the academy. The long days at FLETC for LMPT 603. I remember you would always have a smile on your face, never complaining, always forging on to the next task or scenario. I am grateful to have known you and saddened by your departure under such circumstances. I know God has a place for you in heaven. Eric, my prayers go out to you, your daughters, and family members. I am very sorry for the loss of Margaret.
