Eric, I don't think my wife and I can adequately express in words our anger at learning of the senseless murder of Margaret. Our heartfelt sympathies to you for the loss of your wife, and especially to your two daughters. While a cold-blooded killer was able to end her life, I'm sure her love for you and the girls will remain eternal. Please pass along to the girls that their mother is a hero.

I had the honor of meeting Ranger Anderson at the Snow Rover Training in November, and I remember being immediately struck by her passion and depth of experience. It was a joy to learn all that she had to share. I am sickened by the tragedy brought about by this senseless act of lunacy, and my prayers are with her family. As I watched from the periphery as the day's events unfolded, I was awed by the courage shown by her colleagues as they continued to perform their duties with quiet strength and dedication, in the midst of the crisis and the loss of their friend. I am beyond proud, and I share in their grief at this most profound loss.

I've carried for forty years the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi behind my peace officer id card. It has provided comfort in the tough times and focus at the right times. I hope it will bring comfort to Ranger Anderson's husband, young daughters, family and greater NPS family in the days, weeks, months and years ahead:

"Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen."

God bless you, Ranger Anderson

I didn't work with Ranger Anderson but worked as an LE Ranger at Mt Rainier for many years. These are the most dedicated group of people that I have ever worked with. Our thoughts are with her family.

As a Mom who has enjoyed the park with my family, I am saddened so much to hear of Ranger Anderson being in the way of one of these sick people. Thank you to her and the family for helping others enjoy the park. I hope for your peace of mind, they catch whoever did this, but mostly I hope the children grow up knowing they had a special mother. Take care.

Dear Margaret Anderson,

I thank you for doing the job that you did. Without people like you our national parks would not be what they are today. Thank you for trying to keep the park a safe place to be. My family was on the way to the park today for some sledding when I heard the news. They were so saddened when I called them. My mother and father love the park and admire what park workers do. You and your family will be in my prayers and memories for days, weeks, even months to come. God Bless you Margaret Anderson! May you be in the most beautiful place looking down on the next best beautiful place, Mt. Rainier. May Jesus hold your hand and your husband and childrens hands. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
