Reflections for Park Ranger Margaret A. Anderson

Maggie,

You were strong, competent, brave, funny, smart, and kind. We loved having you as a colleague and classmate. We've all lost touch, but your death hits as hard as if we'd seen you yesterday. On behalf of Land Management Police Training Class 630, please know that you made a difference in this world. To your husband and daughters, your Margaret was a great lady and we are profoundly sorry for your loss.

I met and worked with Margaret while she was at Bryce Canyon. We have lost a wonderful person and officer. Margaret was a truly good person who made others around her feel better and stranger by their contact with her.

Today I have lost not only a friend, but also a sister.

She will be greatly missed by those she knew at Bryce Canyon.

Park rangers have the job of protecting special places. We put our lives on the line to protect that which we love, so that others may love them too. We may not be on city streets, but we still serve and protect.
Rest easy Ranger Anderson, my heartfelt prayers go out to your children and husband. Thank you for your service. I hope your husband will continue to serve the park and know that he is not alone. We are all brothers and sisters in green and gray.

Margaret could have been one of the many rangers who have offered assistance in the NPS. I shall take the time to look each and every ranger that I meet straight in the eyes and thank them for their service . The worst ... would be to take any of these people "for granted". I live only 6 blocks from the Olympic National Park, in Port Angeles, Washington.Bless you and your family.
