May the peace of God be with his family and his department during this difficult time. I pray that you do not lose you direction and your purpose while dealing with this crime against Shawn, his wife, his children, his department and all law enforcement. May your resolve be strengthened to continue to stand for that which is good and right and for the innocent. God bless you now and forever.

My prayers go out to Officer Schneider's family, friends and peers. I was in Lake City during the Christmas Holiday with my Wife's family. During our meal prayer, which was given by my nephew (10 years old), he prayed for Officer Schneider's recovery and being with his family in their time of need. As a law enforcement officer it made me proud and demonstrated that the community cared for and respected Officer Schneider and his family. This says a lot about the type of person he was and the impact his loss will have on his family and community. I did not know Officer Schneider personally, but may God be with those of you who did. Do not drown in grief but be thankful for the opportunity and time you had to know this fine young law enforcement officer who gave his life protecting others.

"All that is necessary for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing."
Edmund Burke.
Officer Schneider, thank you for your service, protection, and dedication to your community. You stared evil in the face and because of your heroic stand, a 17 year old lady's life was saved. You are the essence of "good men" who choose not to stand by, but to stand up and do something about the evil in this world.
May God bless your family and co-workers, giving them comfort during this most difficult time.

As a fellow Minnesotan (and mother of a police officer in MN) I am deeply saddened. A dedicated and loyal young man took an oath 8 years ago to protect and defend the law and citizens - may the of pride of his young family be with them forever.

We are the parents of Tim Doyle, one of three officers shot on August 2nd in Rapid City, SD on August 2, 2011. Tim is the only survivor and was back on the job as a liaison at Central High School on August 22nd. We attended the funerals of Ryan McCandless and Nick Armstrong. Now we have another senseless death of a Police Officer, Shawn Schneider, in the peaceful town of Lake City, MN. Our prayers go out to Shawn's family, the Lake City Police Department and Officers in Blue all over the country. On our way back home as we headed down I-90 to Rochester, MN, Shirley wrote the following poem that we would like to share with all Officers in Blue.
Officers in Blue
On that day in August
A day like no others
At Anamosa & Greenbriar
You lost two Brothers.
A third tho wounded
Did all he could do
To protect those down
His Brothers in Blue.
The community was stunned
This really couldn’t be
Not in our town
Not in Rapid City.
Once it set in
That yes it was true
They went into action
For those Men in Blue.
What is needed
What can we do
For these three “Heroes”
These Men in Blue.
The wives of the Officers
Designed a shirt in blue
With requests by the hundreds
That grew & grew.
To be seen in the shirt
With a wristband too
Was a wonderful tribute to
All Officers in Blue.
Time will heal wounds
And allow us to see
That life is again good
In Rapid City.
The streets will be safe
This we know to be true
Because of our “Heroes”
Our Officers in Blue.
