Reflections for Police Officer Shawn Steven Schneider

Shawn was a kind hearted friendly very approachable Officer, who always had a smile on his face.
He loved his wife and kids so much.
Every time he would come pick up his kids at the daycare I worked at he was so pleasant and always so happy. I truly respect him and I’m so grateful for his service.
I have not seen his wife or kids in quite some time, but I wish them nothing but the best.

Lord Jesus, as we watch America’s Peace Officers succumb to the wicked and evil in this world, Shot and Killed in the Line-of-Duty, it becomes difficult for us to pick up and move forward. Our communities are on the brink of exploding with tension. In light of the peace officers who are no longer with us, I pray for endurance for our communities and law enforcement agencies. Carry us through this time of strife, that through our struggles, our bonds may grow even more unbreakable. In Your mighty and holy name, I pray. Amen.

Holy Scriptures on Law Enforcement’s Mission:

“For the policeman [peace officer] does not frighten people who are doing right; but those doing evil will always fear him. So if you don’t want to be afraid, keep the laws and you will get along well. The policeman [peace officer] is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he [the peace officer] will have you punished. He [the peace officer] is sent by God for that very purpose. Obey the laws, then, for two reasons: first, to keep from being punished, and second, just because you know you should.” [Romans 13:3-5 TLB]

[Jesus Said,] “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” [John 15:13 ESV]

And he [Jesus] said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” [Luke 23:43 ESV]

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [children] of God.” [Matthew 5:9 ESV]

“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” [Isaiah 6:8 ESV]

Was just thinking of you and your family tonight Shawn and wanted to drop a line.
Still wearing your pin (it's showing a little wear), still pushing a squad to where ever the danger is, still doing our best to make you proud and keeping the blue line strong.
Miss you brother

Eight years ago today we lost a man that we will never forget. Your legacy will live on forever. You and many others have inspired me greatly to take up a career in law enforcement. Thank you for everything you have done. Gone but not forgotten.

While recently vacationing in Lake City, MN. We were blessed to have stayed in a home with a perfect view of Police Officer Shawn Steven Schneider’s Memorial.
We watched daily as children with curiosity and folks alike stopped to pay tribute...and some like myself that googled to read Shawn’s story. Hopefully Officer Shawn Steven Schneider’s family know that though Shawn’s EOW was 12/30/2011, Shawn continues to watch over his wonderful Lake City, Mn community along the beautiful banks of Lake Pepin

As I'm sure you saw, many of us gathered at your memorial a little over a week ago, it is so impressive. It is a nice place to go and be reminded of you while watching the water. We all think of you often and miss you.

John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

Not a day goes by that I go to work without thinking about you and your family. Your courage along with all those before you will not be forgotten. I was just reading this page, and thought I would come check on your memorial. It's amazing to see how many people care from all over the world. I know Lake City residents that feel Lake City isn't the same. You have great partners at LCPD, but nobody can take your place. I'm honored to have known you.

Officer Schneider,

I wrote this poem for you:

Dedicated to: Officer Shawn Schneider, Lake City (MN) Police Department. EOW: December 30th, 2011. Written by, Joy Adams. “A Hero Never Leaves our Hearts.”

Tears silently fell, our hero was gone forever, one of the best was laid to rest.
He gave his life protecting and serving, a life not many would think is worth choosing.
A man respected by many, he was a husband, and a daddy.
To work he would go, with a smile on his face, he made this world a better place.
We gave you a call, but there was no answer, a tear slipped from our eye, our hero is home forever.
For now the whole city stands quietly and whispers goodbye as you pass on by.
For Officer Schneider is no longer with us, swallowing back the tears waiting to flood our face, we whispered to God: “Thank you for bringing him to a better place.”

You are someone I will never forget. Still praying for your wife, kids, and department every day!

Shawn,

I had the honor of escorting your family to their seats at the Police Memorial in Washigton D.C. on May 13th. I'm sure it was a very moving and difficult night for your family. I will remember your name and story for the rest of my life and only wish I could have made it easier for your family. God bless you, your family, friends and community.

My husband is a Lake City Police Officer. Shawn was his partner & friend, we miss him very much.

Yesterday we went and visited Shawn's grave. My kids had not seen it yet so I wanted to take them. I was filled with tears before we even got out of the car. We walked over holding hands and saw everything people had been leaving. It was so overwhelming to see how much he was loved and cared for. We all cried, trying to make sense of it all but there were no words just tears.

Then my son, who is 11, turned to me and said, "Mom, its okay to cry, Shawn's life meant something. It has to be sad so his memory doesn't go away." I couldn't have said it better!!

Shawn will NEVER be forgotten because Heroes Live Forever!!

Shawn,
The fondest memory of you I have is at the Lake City Parade with you on the bicycle, distracting me from directing traffic. I'm sure my FTO didn't appreciate it very much, but you were so friendly I couldn't just tell you to go away.
There's a hole in my heart that will never be filled.
I miss you.
