Reflections for Police Officer Specialist Timothy Brian Schock

Tim, from one PSD to another PSD may you rest in peace. To the family of Tim, may God guide you in these hard times and bring peace to you and your family.

Rescue Diver's Prayer

When I'm called to duty God, to dive beneath the waves, to search for an unfortunate soul, whose body thy have claimed. Let swiftness be my virtue, to find that soul in time, please let this be a rescue Lord, and not the "other kind". Be my eyes in the darkest lake, and guide me with your hand, that this person be saved, when we return to land. If this is not your will, Oh Lord, then please show me the way, to sort out this mystery, and dive another day. If things become their darkest Lord, and its me that you call home, please guide my friends and family, that they'll never walk alone. ---Unknown Author---

Tim,

As your academy classmate over 16 years ago and co-worker for several years riding bikes and on other assignments, my memory of our time honored experiences together make me smile and laugh. Our common interest in movie lines from such classics as "Fletch" and "Stripes" come to mind among several others. Whether recovering from a 'push-up' session in the academy or handling a domestic dispute on the street, you found just the right moment to drop one of those lines, leaving a pause for me to finish it off. Often, the two parties in a domestic dispute would stop arguing/fighting and look at Tim with a puzzled look after one of the lines would come out of his mouth during negotiations in their living room. This technique often proved effective in diffusing the dispute toward a resolution, but I doubt it will ever find its way into a lesson plan at the academy.

Yesterday, I stood in disbelief with three fellow classmates from the 36th session with tears in my eyes as the Marines folded your American flag. I wondered what our legacy would be in the future since the impact of your death. I can only speak for my self brother, but I am sure that Mike, Lee and Bobby would agree that we will carry on in life with you in our constant thoughts and will make every effort to honor your memory as we continue our calling as brothers, husbands, fathers, sons, friends and Law Enforcement Officers. We love you Tim.

I can only imagine your contact with St. Peter as you rose above and can only wonder if you placed a food order with him as you approached the pearly gates like you often did imitating Chevy Chase in the movie "Fletch"; "I'll have a bloody Mary, a steak sandwich...and a steak sandwich please." Imagine his response, but I would suspect he would come back at you with another line from that movie and welcome you home to God's house.

We all will never forget you and never forget to always keep our sense of humor in the face of the adversities we face in our daily lives.

Rest in peace Tim. Semper Fi.
