In Honor of your Sacrifice and for your family and friends, I salute you as a HERO! May God
Give the family and friends the strength and faith to deal with this tragic loss. Words can not express my sorrow!
"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

I wish to send our heartfelt condolences to the family members of Officer Crispin and all of the members of the Lakeland Police Department. Once again, this officer demonstrated his selfless dedication to our citizens by trying to stop the criminals responsible for so many criminal acts, injuries and deaths in our community. He did so by making the ultimate sacrifice. He, like so many other officers in our state and country, were working the late hours, reducing crime and maintaining the security, serenity and freedom we cherish in the United States. Officer Crispin gave the greatest sacrifice one can give protecting the citizens of Lakeland, Polk County and the State of Florida.
We are deeply saddened by this event. Look on the brave and heroic actions of our officers, and frown upon the felonious actions of the persons responsible for another senseless killing of an officer. With such a great loss to the Crispin family, the citizens of Lakeland, and the law enforcement community, the members of the Jupiter Island Public Safety Department wish to send our sincere condolences during what should be a joyous time.

To the family and friends of Officer Amulfo Crispin, his fellow officers, and most especially to Officer Crispin:
We honor your service to your community as a police officer and you will always be remembered and revered. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of our entire family, I wish to extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Amulfo was killed in the line of duty. It is obvious he was well-loved by many and well-respected by his peers as reflected in the loving reflections left for him.
May his loved ones continued to be supported by their law enforcement family and other police survivors. Our family grieves with you and for you. To Amulfo's family, you are in my heart's embrace today.
Each day that a police officer dies in the line of duty is tragic and heart wrenching, but I cannot help but think of the nightmare that changes a home decorated for the holidays and a household anticipating the joy of Christmas to a place of enormous grief and shock.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Amulfo gave to his community and the citizens of Florida, and the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on December 20, 2011.

God Bless Officer Crispin, his family, friends and coworkers. "I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic he died to save.
I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom." Abraham Lincoln
