Reflections for Sergeant David Ernest Enzbrenner

R.I.P SGT David Enzbrenner of the Atchison Police Department you gave the ultimate sacrifice and will be truly missed. It was an honor to be on the same shift and work for you all the years I did.
Father Tom was there to meet you and guide you home. You will never be forgotten.

David is great family man and a wonderful person. He is also my cousin. I have always respected him for the way that he has lived his life from a very young age. When i used to visit our grandma's house the first thing I did was call David to see what he was doing, spent all my time with him whether I was there a day or 10 days. He had a committment to serve and protect his community where he was born and raised and he was committed to his family. He is very much loved by all and will be sorely missed. I love you David

My thoughts and prayers go to all the family and law enforcement brothers of Dave. My husband worked with him for 10 years. Our son went to the same babysitter as his daughters and we were friends. All of our lives will forever be changed because of this senseless, cowardly act. Dave, you were a wonderful man, father and friend and will forever be missed.

Avenue of the Fallen

Standing at attention in their class “A“ uniforms, badges gleaming and shoes like glass, are your brothers and sisters of Law Enforcement. All of whom have previously paid the ultimate price.
Today, like many others, they welcome you to this wonderful place. As you march down the Avenue of the Fallen, all eyes focus on you as if to say its ok you’re with your eternal partners. A salute is followed and a tear can be seen on so many faces.
Welcome, you served well.
Now come join us in the ranks, another is coming home.

I went to school with David and his wife Kerri. My brother is a fellow officer of David's and Kerri worked with me at school over the years. I vividly remember a night that David's daughter and some friends had been followed while jogging. David worked to protect each and everyone of us, but that night he was protecting his daughter. Very professional. Always positive. His family is his legacy. He has left his fellow officers and family for now, but the reunion will be a celebration to remember - I can only imagine what God has planned. My prayers are with his family. The one at home and the one at APD.

Your my real hometown hero! I work for the Dorchester County Sheriff's office near Charleston, S.C., but my hometown is Atchison, K.S. I have been in law enforcement for a little over three years. In your 24 years of service you gave your all. I have contemplated the possibility of my own line of duty death, and if you are anything like me, you died doing what you love, and you proudly sacrificed your life because you knew there was something greater than yourself. God bless your family, friends, and the entire Atchison community.
