Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Richard Lee Rhyne
Deputy Rhyne as you rest in peace may you also know that those of us left here to complete the task that you started 37 years ago will do our very best.
As I end my 35 year career in Law Enforcement I hope to have passed on some benefit to those still in the profession.
Deputy Rhyne- protect us from above and guide me to make the right choices, be the right person at the right time and I will meet you someday when I also join you in a place where no protection will be needed. I didn't personally know you, but L/E is the same everywhere- so I know you were a good man, and will be missed by all you have touched.
Lt. Tim Marsh
Mendocino County Sheriff's Office, Ukiah Ca.

For Deputy Sheriff Rick Rhyne:
Our duty as law officers is fraught with risk and the chance of an encounter with murderous individuals is always present. Even though most of us spend our career without meeting with death, it can occur no matter the officer or the jurisdiction. We regret that our brother Rick would be the next law officer to meet such a fate. Especially after a long and proud career as a peace officer.
We pray for Rick's family, friends, co-workers and all who care about him. May they be ready to reach-out to one another in the days ahead.
As a retired state trooper and Lake County (FL) deputy sheriff, I am proud to render Deputy Rich Rhyme, a soldier-of-the-law, a final salute.

Deepest sympathy to family and colleagues from across the pond.
So many police officers seem called on no days to pay the ultimate price, yet each is as painful to those around them as any other. The fact this and so many are ready to stand and do that most difficult and dangerous of jobs speaks highly of the officers. Those who fall will stand tall in our memories forever.

My heart is going out to the family of deputy Rhyne. I met your beloved husband in 2001 in Foxfire Village where I lived at the time....He was so special to my husband and I as we lost our son in the LOD in 1997 and moving down here I needed a true COP to talk to and he was there....I know that he is with my son in heaven and they are now watching over us together.

For Deputy Sheriff Rick Rhyne and family,
My thoughts and prayers will be with you always. As a daughter of a police officer you never know when the last time you will hear their voice. I remember as a little girl listening to the scanner to make sure my dad was safe and out of harms way. I can't imagine the thought of losing him. This is such a tragedy and I know many people are feeling the pain as I do now. He will and always will be a hero to Moore County Sheriff's Department. Rick, I know you are in heaven enjoying your new beautiful life filled with only laughter and joy. May God bless you for you are a hero, a protector, and now an angel. Just wanted to give a shout out to my dad James Estes. He taught me from a young age what a man and hero one truely is. I love you dad. Please stay safe....

Deputy. Rick Ryne, is a true warrior in law enforcement, when most other officers would have taken their retirement , and relaxed, but he had a need to continue, because he felt that his work was not done. Read Roman 13:1-5 (NKJV). It describes him or closely. And when ever a man gives his life for another man in the line of duty this is and uptime sacrifice, for earthly deeds. Sir your are a true Officer in the war of sacrifice. Rest in peace Brother God have a place for you in Heaven.
