Reflections for Chief of Police Jerry E. Hicks, Sr.
My deepest condolences to the family, members of the department, and those served, at the loss of this officer. May faith, family, friends and time join to ease the pain of everyone at this loss.
While many other career choices were certainly available, this officer chose to protect his fellow man, and for this we give everlasting thanks. As the Good Lord said, “Blessed are the Peacemakers.”
Thank you for your service both in law enforcement as well as to your country, your convictions and moral character, and your devotion to duty. May you now rest in peace, knowing your fellow brothers and sisters will continue the Watch!

I remember the first time I met Chief. I was just out of the Police Academy, I had applied at a few places but no luck. Money was running low and calls were starting to be made. I was coming by the Police Department at least once a week asking about my application. Doing this I must have made an impression on the Chief. It wasn't to long I was hired on and to my surprise full-time. I will never forget what Chief did for me. Everyone else wanted experience, they said I didn't have enough, but for Chief, he wanted someone that would work. I owe everything to Chief. Without this job I would have lost everything, including my family. So, Chief thank you, thank you for letting me show you what I can do. Thank you for making that difference.
