Jim I remember our time in the Marine Corps at Parris Island, Camp Lejeune, Mare Island, and Camp Pendleton. I remember going to your wedding. I remember that when we got to Mare Island it was raining when we were checking in. We walked into the range house and a warrant officer who was over the range noticed that you had a 5.0 on your proficiency and conduct score from Lejeune. He then asked you why you had water on your boots. You replied "Sir" and the warrant officer replied " I thought marines with this high of a score on their pros and cons could walk on water". We all had a good laugh about that one. Although I haven't seen you in over 22 years I still remember you! Rest in peace my police brother and Semper Fi.

RIP Jimmy, a great cop and a better man. My thoughts and prayers are with your family on this tragic night.
The Vallejo Police Department and the community has lost a real difference maker and a true hero among a very thin blue line of heroes that have continued to serve that city with honor and integrity under extreme conditions.
God bless you VPD and all who knew Jim Capoot.
