Officer James Capoot: You and your family are America's true heroes. God bless you all for your sacrifice. We, as Americans, can never repay our debt to you. Your loss is our loss and we are filled with a heavy grief. This, I will never forget. We can only pray that you and your fine family will be reunited in Heaven one day. And we can also hope that the wild animal that took you from this world will experience a living Hell before he enters the real one.

Good bye dear friend, you will be missed by so many, words just can't explain. My prayers are with your family. I am so blessed to have so many wonderful memories.
This has brought me back 11 years, the day I walked out of the trauma room to a see sea of blue, I remember seeing all your faces searching for hope that Jeff would pull through. Your shoulders were strong then, as you supported all us EMS workers and you said good bye to a friend. We will take care of Jen & the girls now for you.
From working with my kids in safety patrol, opening your heart to a high school full of young adults that needed guidance. Responding to my home when it was burgalized, and advising me to move out of Vallejo - things have gotten bad.
You my friend exemplify role model and hero!
RIP Officer Capoot

"A Part of America Died"
Somebody killed a policeman today,
and a part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect,
will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect that shot him will stand up in court,
with counsel demanding his rights.
While a widowed mother must work for her kids,
and spend many long, lonely nights.
The beat that he walked was a battle field too,
just as if he'd gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
to his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors,
a cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
and he stands at each new rookie's side.
He answered the call, of himself gave his all,
and a part of America died.

Goodness. This is very sad to read. I played football and ran track with Jimmy back in Jr. High School in Arkansas. A friend told me of this and I just had to write. Why does this kind of thing always happen to the best of people? Bless him and his family.
