Not only was Marshal Silcox a law enforcement officer, he was a Civil War veteran, having served in Co C, 11th Kentucky Cavalry. He was born 31 July 1837 in Mercer County, KY, and married first Paulina Terhune 20 Mar 1859 in Boyle County; he mar (2) after Paulina's death, Elizabeth TRISLER on 26 March 1872.

Marshal Silcox,
Sir, it has taken over 117 years but you are finally being honored. I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Shelby City. It sickens me that your murderer was only sentenced to three years and then pardoned by a POS politician. Hopefully your murderer and that governor got some justice later on.
