Reflections for Police Officer Bradley Ryan Jones
His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

The Lord has you now, your duty here is done.
Your friends and family, as bad as they miss you, may not realize your life above has just begun.
Your love can be cast down to your family here below.
The care and compassion the Police family will give them, we take care of our own.

I was at your resting place in the numbers of Pipers and Drummers playing Amazing Grace. The tears I shed were diluted by those around me. I was honored to be of the few to perform for you Bradley. Your close friend with whom I work near misses you dearly.
GOD Bless you and your family,
Kennedyford.

Officer Jones, may you rest in peace, brother. Thank you for all of your service. I think about your wife and kids and how they will be with you again one day.
Thank you for helping protect two of my sisters who live in Glendale. Your procession to CCV went right behind my sisters house. She expressed her feelings to me seeing the procession and was in full support of you.
I will be riding in the 2012 Police Unity Tour with Chapter IV in your honor.

The Policemans Prayer
Lord I ask for courage, Courage to face and conquer my own fears, Courage to take me where others will not go...
I ask for strength, Strength of body to protect others, and strength of spirit to lead others,
I ask for dedication, to do my job, to do it well, dedication to my community, to keep it safe...
Give me Lord, concern for others who trust me, and compassion for those who need me...
And please Lord , Through it all Be at my side...

I am sorry for your loss. There are few if any words to ease the pain you feel. I truly understand. Most notably as a watch commander I lost an officer on my watch in an ambush. The loss was devasating to me personally but also to the community and department as a whole. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

~Police Officer's 23rd Psalm~
The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want, His comforting hand reduces fear to naught;
He makes me walk through streets of crime, But He gives me courage and peace of mind.
He leads me by still waters in the path I trod, And He says in Romans I'm a "minister of God," He leads me in righteousness as He restores my soul, For His name's sake He keeps me whole.
When I walk through death's valley, right up to the front door, I will fear no evil, for He comforts me more;
For Thou art with me every step of the way, As thy rod and thy staff protect me each day.
He prepares a table, especially for me, As I work daily among life's enemies;
He gives me authority to uphold the law, And He anoints my position in the midst of it all.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me, Each day of my life through eternity;
As I long to hear Him say, "Well done...," When I lay down my life, my badge and my gun.

As a City of Glendale Citizens Police Academy participant I did my ride-a-long with Officer Jones. He was funny and very informative as to what it is that Police Officers do for our community. I will always remember that on the first call he received I was able to observe him at work. As he was dusting for prints I asked him, why don’t you use the blue light they use in CSI? He gave me a look I have never forgotten. He was quite a guy even if I was with him for a few hours I will never forget the time with him. Might God put him to good use and get him a blue flashlight. God keep all of our officers safe.
