I've worked here over 29 yrs and I've seen alot come and go but never have I seen any one person work any harder than Terry Lewis did to become a police officer. Regardless of what was thrown at her, her over came it and she did it. Terry was a fighter. She made it. Terry was such a pleasant person to work around.
Terry, you are missed.

I cannot believe this! My wife and I were visiting Folkston, Georgia, on vacation just two weeks ago. We were heading back home, when we broke down in Albany at Advance Auto Parts. Officer Fleming and her partner were there for a counterfeit report. They gave me directions to the local auto mechanic. She was very helpful and we did get our car fixed quickly. They did not know that I was a police officer as well. My chief sends us emails about officers killed in the line of duty. When I saw this particular email I couldn't believe that we had just crossed paths just a couple of weeks ago and now she is gone. My condolences to the family and the department. We just don't know when it's all going to end.

Though I never knew her, she was part of my Law Enforcement family and I will mourn this deep loss the rest of my life. My heart aches with all the losses we have suffered, and continue to suffer, through the years. God is our only peace in such incidents & our only real comfort comes from Him. May His strength, comfort & peace continue to be the sustaining force in the lives of all who knew this beloved officer; and may it somehow help to know they do not grieve alone.

As police officers across this great nation of ours, we take an oath "to protect and defend" knowing that one day, we might be called upon to protect and defend our loved ones and the community we work for with our lives.
This oath is not one which is taken lightly, nor is it taken "just to have a job". The true officer sees it as a calling to serve his or her fellow man.
I never had the priviledge of meeting Officer Lewis-Fleming. Yet, as a fellow officer in blue, she is more than courageous...she is one who was more than willing to lay her life down for her fellow citizens, officers, and others, so they could remain free.
Many in this twisted world will never understand the emotions officers face each time they leave for work, knowing that this might be the day they are called upon to offer the greatest love of all.
Rest in God's arms Terry! We'll continue to keep your family in our prayers!

Terry was a very sweet officer who loved her kids. She was working the 4th of July fireworks in Albany and spent some time with the my faminly. She shared pictures with my wife of her wedding dress and talked about her kids. She was full of life and will be missed by many. This community has lost a good officer for the second time in a year. May peace now be with them both.
