Being atheist, I can't offer prayers, but I hate this. Family, fiends & fellow officers, know that my thoughts are with you, and I understand loss by murder from experience.
I detest getting these notifications, but I feel it necessary to acknowledge the loss of people that protect me.

Being a former K9 handler I can relate to this unique relationship between the officer and his partner Benny. I hope that the officer was able to experience Benny's commitment and presence before the Lord took him.

Our prayers and sympathies go out to the family and friends of Officer Kotecki and to the community he served. God bless you all in this time of need. It was not the way that Officer Kotecki died that made him hero... it was the way he lived.

I would like to extend my condolences to Officer Kotecki's family and K9 Benny. My entire career was spent interacting with police officers and sheriff deputies, all doing the thankless job of keeping our community safe. I had and still have the utmost respect for those heroes in uniform, especially knowing what they face on a day in, day out basis. I am hopeful that those who knew Officer Kotecki will remember him with pride knowing he was just doing his job like so many of you out there do. Rest in peace, sir.
