The Police Officer's Prayer
to St. Michael
Police Officer's Prayer to St. Michael
Saint Michael, heaven's glorious commissioner of police,
who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises
of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional
eyes on your earthly force.
Give us cool heads, stout hearts, and uncanny flair for
investigation and wise judgement.
Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and
law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores,
strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations.
You know, Saint Michael, from your own experiences
with the devil that the police officer's lot on earth is not
always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so
pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the
devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration.
And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your
heavenly force, where we will be as proud to guard the
throne of God as we have been to guard the city of all
the people. Amen.

May you Rest in Peace, we have the watch. May God grant peace to your family and your department. I am originally from Bethlehem, PA and have served with the Colorado Springs PD for 11 years. We lost two officers in the line of duty back in 2005 and it was horrible. Hearing about this loss from so close to my hometown sickened me. You are a true hero. May God watch over your family and friends--it is not easy, but you will get through it. Every day I put on my badge, I do it in your honor.

"In The Line of Duty"
What is the meaning of "In The Line of Duty"
It means that an officer made the Ultimate sacrifice.
It means that someone took an officer's life.
A hero has fallen.
Officers who gave their all
To protect and serve
Have been killed by someone whom they swore
To protect and serve.
It means that their badge will no longer be on their chest
And they will join
"The Best Of The Best"
It means that family and friends are left behind
To deal with the lost of a loved one.
Only to have the memories of that loved one
Close to their hearts.
Something no one can ever take away.
It means that family members will stand at the officer's grave
And they will wonder why...
Why would someone take an officer's life
And leave them there to die?
If we only knew.
Today an officer will place their badge on their chest
To fulfill the dreams of Heroes killed
"In The Line Of Duty"
Our deepest sympathy to the Lasso Family..

My thoughts are with Officer Lasso's family, friends and fellow officers. It deeply saddens me to see a good person lose his life in the face of the senseless violence of today's world.
I have had an oppurtunity to talk to some people who know Officer Lasso in some capacity. From how they spoke, I am sorry I never had a chance to meet him personally. I know he will be deeply missed and the world will be a little less bright.
