Although I did not know Officer Lasso I offer my deepest sincere sympathy to his family and all those affected by his tragic passing. Everywhere we turn anymore there seems to be so much evil, no matter how hard we try to avoid it. My heart goes out to his wife and his children who will truly suffer the most from this loss. Please take care of yourself and your children in the days, weeks and months to come. God Bless you.

To my friend Bob you were truly "one of the good ones". I often told people that you didn't have a bad bone in you. You were not only an excellent police officer but more important an excellent father, husband and friend. I still cannot believe what had happened and when I heard about the shooting immediately I asked if it was you brother. My heart and thoughts go out to Jen your kids and your family. You will never be forgotten and justice will be served. Rip Bob.

For Police Officer Robert A. Lasso:

The risk that the law officer takes each day is ever-present. Every law officer faces high-risk in keeping the peace. The metropolitan police officer shares equal status with the small town police officer, in proportion to the numbers they serve.

We regret that Robert would be the latest law officer to fall during the process of serving those that he swore to protect.

We pray for Robert's family, friends, co-workers and all who care about him. May they be ready to reach-out to one another in the days ahead.

We are proud to render Officer Robert A. Lasso, a soldier-of-the-law, a final salute.

Cpl. Ralph D. Fiorenza (Ret.)
Pennsylvania State Police

Every day I say a prayer to thank God for the brave men and women who patrol our streets and keep us safe. It breaks my heart to read of yet another hero losing his life through such a senseless act.

My deepest sympathy to the family, friends and co-workers of Ofr. Lasso. He is now an angel in heaven, perpetually watching over us all.

May he rest his peace, and may his family, friends and co-workers find comfort in their memories.

RIP brother! Haven't seen each other in a while, but I sure do remember the good times. Nothing beat playing football together and spending time at your parent's house just hanging out. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family, friends, and your fellow officers.

You will surely be missed.

In Honor of your Sacrifice and for your family and friends, I salute you as a HERO!

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Another officer taken too young from his family and friends through a reckless and selfish act of violence.

Officer Lasso, I never met you but wanted to say "Thank You" for serving your community and sacrifcing your life. All the reports that I have heard have been glowing and loving memories of a young man who gave all to his family and community. May you rest in peace Officer Lasso.
