I remember our last conversation at the pool at Westview..... about flying and how much you loved that SR22 experience just before leaving for another tour. I remember my little girls playing with your dog Buddy and we talked football and motorcycles. How you always forgot to shut your garage andn I would come home from work late and shut it for you like a good neighbor should.Man I can't believe it you will be missed!!!!!

Jeremy,

You will be missed. I am so glad to have met you. I know how proud your parents are of you. Everytime I see them here in San Antonio all they want to talk about is what you are doing. I am glad we were able to exchange patches. I still wish you could have come to San Antonio to work. I think you would have loved it here. Be blessed brother!

In my duties as a newspaper police reporter, I see our officers face the unknown daily from traffic stops to probation and parole searches and high speed pursuits.

Jeremy Henwood was in the wrong place at the wrong time and obviously had no expectation of what was about to take place. It chills through to my soul to realise what happened in a split second.

The public is quick to criticize the patrolman in an officer involved shooting often citing "trigger happy cops." Aspiring police men and women are made to jump through hoops to ensure they are the best qualified for the job and that they are able to handle the stress while protecting an often contentious public.

May his spirit continue to live in the hearts and minds of the San Diego police community for being there for his country and for his community. My prayers go out to his family members and to his fellow officers throughout the San Diego region -- all products of the same academy.

I can only add that often used term, "Be Safe." The loss of your life will touch us all.

Jeremy,

We spent the holidays together this last season in Afghanistan; spent many a meals with you at the chow hall talking about life, goals, dreams, and events in your world. You are truly a great man, Officer, Marine, and friend. I pray that those close to you find solace in knowing that you were the cream of the crop and were one of the most selfless men the country has to offer.

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

Captain Jeremy Henwood (Coyote 13 Ancient),
Sir, it was a pleasure serving with you at TTECG and later as your Admin Chief at HqBn before your release from Active Duty. I thank you for giving my family the opportunity to rent your home in 29 Palms after my retirement while you were at the Academy in San Diego. We truly enjoyed having Buddy with us while you were there. We did miss him when we moved.
I can only say that you were truly a patriot for serving on active duty, as a reserve Marine and as a Police Officer for San Diego. You will be missed. I will see you at the pearly gates some day. Semper Fi!
