Officer Henwood,

I am only an Explorer with US CBP Explorer Post 401 Honolulu, Hawaii. Your act of kindness and generosity to a young man is an example to me. As a future LEO in my generation, you inspire me to learn more about law enforcement so one day, when I become an LEO, I can carry on your legacy of kindness and be an example to other young people I may encounter someday.

Thank you for your service to not only the people of the City of San Diego but also to the United States of America.

The news just reported an act of kindness, you buying a young man some cookies, you made a big impression on that youn man and others too.

I'll pray for your family and your friends, for their loss is great.

I also saw that video of you buying the young man food just before your End of Watch. They young man's father, a fellow soldier appeared overwhelmed by your act. The young man referred to you as his role model. In years to come the San Diego Police Department may be welcoming him as its newest member.

I only wish that the "lost soul" as the Chief referred to him had turned himself into your custody rather than taking your life. I know two lives would have been saved rather than irretrievably lost. The Los Angeles Times coverage of your funeral proved that. As we say in my tradition, may your memory forever be a blessing. I will say the Kaddish in your memory. My sympathies to your beloved family, friends, and colleagues.

What a tragic loss of a great human being and officer! His act of random kindness preceding his death speaks to the character of the man. He did the uniform proud and is a credit to all who serve. My sincere condolences to his family and colleagues.

Office Jeremy Henwood pulled me over for running a red light in July and he made a wonderful impression on me with his compassion and sense of humor - he let me go with a warning and reminded me that I could have hurt someone, and said "you wouldn't want to do that."
He made the uniform proud and left me grateful.
Officer Henwood was a great force for good in the world and in my neighborhood, a strength mixed with kindness, a sharp observer with a gentle hand.
I know he went to heaven, so I will pray for those he loved and who loved him.

I just watched a video of Officer Harwood buying food for a young boy prior to his death. My wife asked me why I was watching it. I told her its because it is humanity at its best. You bought food for a young man in kindness with the little money you make all while protecting and serving the community as a whole. Semper Fidelis Marine, May God Bless you, your family, friends and fellow Officers.

May you rest in peace. Your tour is complete and I know you're now patrolling the streets in heaven. May your family take solace in the fact that you gave your life doing the job you loved and that your last act on this earth was helping a child. In the video you put a smile on that young man's face and showed what a good human being you were. RIP.

As an Iraq war veteran, it's hard to hear of Police Officers returning home after serving, returning to their beat, only to be killed in their own back yard. At least Officer Henwood was able to make one last act of kindness, something I'm sure he didn't think was such. He probably thought of it as normal. Not enough poeple like him in our world. Rest in peace, Jeremy.

To Officer Henwood's family, my heart breaks for you all and
these words seem so understated. I cry thinking about the
amazing young man Jeremy was. In a world that has become something I can't relate to anymore, he is an inspiration of hope and love for us all.

Please God, Bless this family and his PD and hold them in the comfort of your arms.

I hope you will feel peace from the prayers we are all sending to you. Your son is a HERO.
