May God be with Brent's loved ones and fellow officers. I was working in the emergency department when this tragedy took place. I have to deal with losing people and getting through my day, but this hit home. God has called him home and will heal the ones who are hurting. Thank you for your sacrifice. You did not deserve this, but you do deserve to be remembered forever.

As a former k9 handler I know how we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, fearing no evil because our trusty k9 partner is there with us. When the shot wrang out there was evil in front of you, and at that time God smiled upon you because you were coming to him and his kingdom. You faced evil in the purest form, never wavered, and were rewarded for you courage. God bless you and your family for the pain they will endure. Even though we will never have the oppurtunity to meet I just want to say thank you for your service, dedication, and being a hero.

My heart goes out to Officer Longs Family, Co-Workers and friends. My Father "Chief Caton" was killed on duty 7 years to the day of Officer Long. They all go out as Hero's. Be very proud of your fallen officer. Time does heal, but the memories never fade. God Bless!

Thoughts and prayers are with the family of this officer and all other officers, friends, and families of law enforcement. I am so deeply saddened to hear of this, especially so soon after the death of Deputy Sheriff Kyle Pagerly. I hope the K9 pulls through and that he can spend the remainder of his time with the officer's surviving family. May you rest in peace.
