Reflections for Game Warden John Lee Cox

I wish I could have known you Grandfather. My father, your son was raised in an orphanage and overcame great adversity to eventually become a Superior Court Judge in Orange County California. You would have been so proud of him. I Love you both so much and I’m glad you both are together in heaven.

I am granddaughter of of Game Warden John L. Cox. What this shooter left were 7 fatherless children. No income, my father was raised in an orphanage while the shooter enjoyed a life of freedom. It breaks my heart as my father never got to know his father he was 2 years old when this horrible tragedy happen. I know God will punish this man who took a life. Shame on him and his family. Daddy went on to be a a Superior Court Judge. I am very proud of my father and how he over came such a sad beginning and I know Grandpa John L. Cox was smiling down from Heaven. They are both together now. Thank You for honoring my Grandfather whom I never got to know. Love You Grandfather.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 81rst anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace

I was dismayed that the prosecutor dismissed the case on the day of trial citing lack of evidence when the shooter turned himself in to the police.

Thank you for your service to Wise County. I am not sure which town you served with or if it was with the sheriff's office, but know that your sacrifice is not forgotten. Rest in peace.

Officer Cox,
Sir, it has taken 80 years but you are finally being honored. I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrfiice for the citizens of Wise County. It angers and sickens me that the scum who murdered you was not prosecuted for his crime.
