Reflections for Deputy Sheriff John Charles Mecklenburg
Deputy Mecklenburg, you will not be forgotten! R.I.P.
Deputy Sheriff
Livingston County (Il) Sheriff's Ofc.
July 10, 2011
For Deputy Sheriff John Mecklenburg:
Our duty as law officers patrolling the highways involves high-speed chases, in addition to all the other hazards that threaten the law officer. The chase is equally as deadly as any other serious threat from law breakers everywhere. We regret learning of John's fate and recognize that it can be any of us on patrol tomorrow.
We pray for John's family, friends, co-workers and all who care about him. May they be ready to reach-out to one another in the days ahead.
As a retired state trooper, and Lake County (FL) deputy sheriff, I am proud to render Deputy Sheriff John Mecklenburg a final salute.
Cpl. Ralph D. Fiorenza (Ret.)
Pennsylvania State Police

Meck,
This is for you.
"We never can tell when it's our time to leave. But you are a hero so there's even more to grieve. Your life was to protect and serve. But you got something you didn't deserve. And I say to the world that we shouldn't cry. Cuz we all know heroes never die." - Andrew Smith

It is always a sad time when a brother in arms is a casualty to the tragic decisions of a criminal. I lost a cousin, who was a Deputy in California (Joshua Lancaster RIP), in 2001 to a pursuit related death. May God comfort Mecklenburg's family and friends during this time of grieving and loss.

On behalf of the 9463 Foundation (BSO Sgt. Chris Reyka 8/10/2007 10-7 ) I just want to offer my condolences to the Mecklenburg family for their loss. We hold a State Ride to Remember Florida's Fallen Officers once a year which last for 8 days and we ride throughout the State Of Florida tracing the exact cities and locations of where these Unsung Heroes and Public Servants lost their lives and we pay tribute and honor to the families and Departments left behind in these tragic losses. You are indeed in our daily prayers and may God Bless each and every one of you.
